Messy but Happy
Hello guys!
So in this blog, I’m going to be sharing on how me and my two little ones, got through the pandemic year 2020, without harming their beautiful little eyes and brains. (You know what I mean- screen time).
“It hasn’t been an easy year”, I’m definitely not the first one to share this “quote” .
Who knew pandemic would be like this? Imagine the people who went through it decades ago without WiFi? I bow down to their angelic souls for surviving it like bravemen-cavemen.
Anyway, getting back to the topic, KIDS.
I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old, who kept each-other busy “alright”, Including the fights, sharing toys and snatching them right after. We as parents always tend to plead, to the elder kid “ please let him / her have it?” He is a baby, right??
Initially we Googled and YouTube’d also Pinterest’d, numerous ways of keeping kids busy and active at home. We decided to draw on the floor with a permanent marker {which thankfully wasn’t permanent}. We did the hopscotch, balancing acts, motor skill activities etc etc etc etc....
“List of “home activities” just never seemed to end. It became a routine. And it wasn’t easy, especially for working parents”.
Anyway, so we thought of doing something amazing, something that we would definitely remember for the rest of our lives. We introduced our kids to “finger painting”.
Yes, it isn’t a new discovery and with little ones, it’s definitely “messy”. Any which ways it kept them occupied and happy, which was the motive.
“Messiness” became a ritual.
Every early evening, we pulled out all the colourful shades of child friendly finger paints, and my kids couldn’t hold their excitement to indulge into those vibrant little tins. They, used to walk around the house with painted feet, and finger paint on the walls too. Well, when you have a crisis as such, is where the parent panics about cleaning it off, the most “essential” thing definitely came handy. “Baby wipes” !! Yes Baby wipes, proved their worth time and time again. It was pretty convenient to wipe off their messy hands and feet after every print they finished. We have filed them neatly, so that in future when our kids grow, they will look back at their tiny little hands and feet, all so colourful and will also bring up memories about this “pandemic year” in a positive manner. They will forget, all the disappointment they had to face. They will only remember how messy and happy they were.
I am going to share a few pictures ,of what we did and I hope it is fun and cute for you to look at. You could give it a try as well.
These prints are done by my little toddler son. Just at the age of two and a half, and his obsession with monster trucks, bees, and busses is never ending. We have mentioned the date and time at the back of the print.
My 5 year old sweetheart, loved doing her favourite unicorn, butterfly, and forever crazy Elsa print. They are just so beautiful.
I’m sure you would want to try it out with your babies and children.
Trust me, when I say this, kids love colours, mess and what they love the most is, their momma or daddy spending time with them.
Yes it is all MESSY but HAPPY memories that you could give to your children.
-stay tuned for my next blog-
