Atheist Momma's Temple

SHE my Temple, from an atheist momma

This blog is based on a cute story about me and my daughter. Before we head towards the story, I'd like to enlighten you about the core of this tale.

Navratri:

We Indians celebrate a lot of festivals and one of the most pious festivals is Navratri. It is followed by Dussera famously known as the victory of good over evil. So, during these beautiful days of Navratri, our Indian Goddess graces us with her holy presence and helps us get rid of all the negativity around us!

We happen to celebrate "Ashtami" religiously, it is the 8th day of Navratri and is believed that Maa Mahagauri offers relief from all kinds of pain. Also is celebrated by conducting " Kanya puja ".

In this ritual, nine girls are invited over, are worshipped and fed with a holy meal.

Now coming back to our cute story.

It was a bright and beautiful morning, the 8th day of Navratri, and so it was a very special day, as we were getting ready, to leave for our Temple to pay soulful respects to "our Indian goddess generally called as " Mata Rani ".

Maata Rani has always been kind and gracious to our family, she fights the negativity off from this world and we are grateful to her and her blessings. So, I happen to share these amazing tales about Maata Rani with my little girl, who is 6.5 years old, as of today. That day while we were about to leave for the temple, she popped up asking.

Why are we getting ready? Where are we going? How far is it? Should I wear an Indian outfit? Should I wear a mask? Where are my bangles? Shall I carry my toy? and never-ending questionssssss????????

Okay. I just keep quiet, but she kept on blabbering and out of all the babbles she said something that changed the whole perspective of me being an atheist momma.

She giggled and said but Mumma, you had once told me that " I am the Goddess". I was surprised by her opinion because, I did mention "that" to her last year, during this very same auspicious time and suddenly I had a glimpse of the beautiful little goddess right there within her.

And then she said "I am your Temple mumma, because you always worship me and make me feel like I am the goddess" and I, laughed out loud, teary-eyed, surprised and I fell in love with her more than ever.

SHE truly is my temple.

She is the Kanjak, the divine goddess in the form of my daughter.

And that changes the whole fact of me claiming to be an atheist momma for all these years. Not much of an atheist after all.

Right there, is the power of our goddess!

"You may believe that you aren't a believer, but you won't even realise you already are one!

Momma Guilt

I Matter Being a mother comes with its perks and challenges.  Unlike any other relationship, this one has no exit door, unless you die  (it is a "hilarious" but a true comment). So mommas, tell me h ow far does this momma guilt push you ??  I am a mother of two and each day is either a surprise or a shock. Of course I love my minions and my world would just be so grey and plain without them. They add a flavour in my life which cannot be replaced.   But there is always a BUT. Well, for starters let's start with three GUILT feelings on which we end up judging ourselves !                                               I am a terrible mother I am a terrible mother I am a terrible mother   Now, they maybe a zillions of things.   Things as per you, your schedule on which you end up judging yourself for even catching a breath. I am her...

When Mom Becomes a Villian!!!

If you have more than one child, you’ve already unlocked the never-ending reality show that is sibling rivalry —a mix of WWE wrestling, courtroom drama, and over-the-top Bollywood-level meltdowns.  One minute, my kids are playing peacefully; the next, there are screams, snatching, and exaggerated tears over who took whose pencil first. They tease each other nonstop mocking handwriting, spelling, or even breathing too loudly, until someone finally breaks down in dramatic agony. But the real twist? The moment I step in to restore peace, I become the villain. If I scold one, the other smirks in victory. If I scold both, they protest in unison, “But Mumma, HE started it! SHE started it!”  And if I stay out of it, suddenly I’m the negligent bystander ignoring grave injustice. Yet, five minutes later, they’re whispering secrets, sharing snacks, and laughing together while I, now cast as the evil stepmother of their fairy tale,  sit there questioning everything. Siblings may fi...

Mommy hacks - during “ THE “ Pandemic

Mommy Hacks Hey guys, in this blog i will share 5 awesome mommy hacks, that could help you tackle a situation with your little “mini-me versions”.   This pandemic has not only challenged us as adults, but has affected our kids all the more. Not being able to socialise and play amongst their school Friends and neighbourhood has made them even more grumpier and sad. The first and foremost mommy hack (I’m sure you all practice it more than ever) Hack #1:  NEVER SAY NO! So this is a trick, I  learnt along the way on this journey of motherhood. When my little one used to get grumpy for no reason, and ask for something which we shouldn’t be giving in on, we used to convince the kid by saying “oh yes, very soon we will do that too”.  This trick helps you tackle the drama that could have triggered into stubbornness of the child leading him into tears and anger.  Currently, we all are stressed enough, and adding more...
